I tried the "Connection" app where Windows 10 machines become wireless displays

　On the 6th of the US time, the "Build 14316", which was released for Windows 10 Insider's Fast Ring, added a "connection" application to transform Windows 10 PCs into Miracast, that is, an external display.Since it is still a preview version, the specifications and performance may be changed, but I tried it for the time being.

　First, update to Build 14316 on Windows Update.This adds a "connection" app along with the OS update.This connection app is an app that is a Miracast receiver, and starts on a PC you want to use as a display.On the other hand, the PC on the sending host does not need to apply Insider Preview, and perhaps if it supports Miracast, it should be able to send it from a device other than Windows.

　If the host is Windows 10, click "Connect" at the action center.Now you can see the waiting PC name, click the icon.With this alone, the PC on the receiver turns into a wireless external display.

　Basically, the receiver side will be a free display, so you will not be able to operate the keyboard or mouse, but if you change the settings on the host side, the keyboard mouse on the receiver side can be used for the host operation.If you cut the display on the host side, the receiver will be open and you will be able to use it as a single PC.The connection app can be used in the window state, and in this case, if the connection application is inactive, the PC on the receiver can be operated.

　However, it is important to note that it is not a complete alternative to the normal wired display.This is because there are some delays and the image quality due to compression.The delay cannot be measured exactly, but it is a few seconds behind the comma.Not suitable for detailed work.As for the image quality, it may depend on the Wi-Fi band of the PC, but in the environment I tried this time, the compression rate was reasonably high, and block noise was seen around the characters.

　Considering these points, it will be quite effective as a sub -display that displays a timeline such as Twitter.If you have a sleeping Windows tablet or PC, you may want to take this as a sub -display.
