The 24-inch iMac uses the "Apple M1 chip" like the MacBook Air / MacBook Pro / Mac mini released on November 17, 2020. For more information on the "Apple M1 Chip," see the previous report.
The memory can be selected from 8GB / 16GB and the storage can be selected from 256GB / 512GB / 1TB / 2TB SSD, and this configuration is exactly the same as the 3 series released in advance. In detail, it is the same that the "Apple M1 chip" has a 7-core GPU version and an 8-core GPU version. In other words, the specifications regarding processing performance are exactly the same. However, the effective performance may change depending on the presence or absence of a cooling fan and the difference in cooling efficiency.
The biggest advantage of the 24-inch iMac is that it uses a "24-inch 4.5K Retina display" (the size when measured diagonally is 23.5 inches). The MacBook Air is integrated with a 24-inch large screen, 4.5K (4,480 x 2,520 dots, 218ppi) high resolution, 500cd / square m brightness, and a wide color gamut with 100% P3 coverage. It's a big advantage over the / MacBook Pro / Mac mini.
Also, compared to the conventional "21.5 inch iMac", the display has increased from 21.5 inch to 24 inch by adopting "Apple M1 chip", making the cooling system compact, and changing the power supply to an external type. Despite this, the size has been reduced from 450 x 528 x 175 mm to 461 x 547 x 147 mm, and the weight has been reduced from 5.48 kg to 4.46 kg (2-port model) /4.48 kg (4-port model). There is. The point is that the number of color choices has increased significantly to blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange, and purple.
In addition to this, the main differences from the conventional "21.5-inch iMac" are as follows.
The maximum memory capacity has been reduced and it is not equipped with a discrete GPU, but since the processor has been changed from Intel to "Apple M1 chip", simple comparison is not possible. Please refer to the table below for detailed specifications, a list of standard configuration models, and customization examples.
