On the 28th (US time), the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) launched the "DisplayPort UHBR" certification program for video sources, displays, and cable products that support ultra-high bitrate transfer at DisplayPort. Manufacturers will be able to send their products to the DisplayPort Certification Test Center (ATC) for testing and certification. DisplayPort UHBR can transfer uncompressed 8K / 60Hz / HDR, 4K / 240Hz / HDR, 2 4K / 120Hz / HDR, and 4 4K / 60Hz / HDR compatible displays with a single cable. In line with this, we introduced VESA-certified UHBR cables called "DP40" and "DP80". The DP40 connects UHBR10 link rates (10Gbps) with 4 lanes and provides operating speeds of up to 40Gbps. On the other hand, DP80 connects UHBR20 link rate (20Gbps) with 4 lanes and realizes operating speed of up to 80Gbps. The DP80 can also support UHBR 13.5 link rates (13.5 Gbps). These certified cables meet the performance levels introduced in DisplayPort 2.0 to ensure display connectivity and operation. Some products have already passed certification and are in production, shipped from vendors such as Accell, BizLink and WIZEN, and will be available on the market shortly. The DP40 / DP80 can be used with both full size and Mini DisplayPort cables. For USB Type-C using DisplayPort Alt mode, UHBR is already supported, but a certified USB Type-C to DisplayPort conversion cable that can meet UHBR speed requirements is expected to be available soon. Meanwhile, video sources and display products are being tested for the DisplayPort UHBR certification program and will soon complete early certification.
